Frequently asked questions

We know that you probably have many questions about your dental care. Especially when you are considering traveling to another country to have your dental work done.

Below you will find questions that we usually get from our patients. However, if you have any other concerns that are not addressed, please contact us and it will be our pleasure to assist you.

What is a sinus lift?

A sinus lift is a surgery that adds bone to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars. The bone is added between your jaw and the maxillary sinuses, which are on either side of your nose. A sinus lift is done when there is not enough bone height in the upper jaw, or the sinuses are too close to the jaw, for dental implants to be placed.

What type of bone grafts do you use?

We use bovine bone graft material also called xenographic  materials. These materials create a scaffold for new bone tissue to grow.

What is a build up?

When your tooth is badly broken or missing a significant percentage of its volume due to result of a disease, a dental crown may be required to restore the function and appearance of the tooth. If there are any cavities or failing fillings, we will need to remove them in order to clean the tooth and reconstruct it with a new filling.

What is a connection surgery?

After your implants are placed they are normally covered by your gum tissue. If by the time you come to complete the restorative work the gum is still on top of the implant we will need to make a small incision to access/expose your implants, this is the connection surgery.

What brand of implants do you work with?

We work with Zimmer Dental, Oco Biomedical and S.I.N. Implant.

Why do I have to wait 6 months to restore my Implants?

There is a need to wait because the implants need to properly set into your jawbone.

How many days do I have to stay?

This depends on the amount of work you are having done, but here are some general time frames:

  • Implant placement / surgical phase: 4 business days (plus arrival and departure).
  • 1-5 units: 5 business days (plus arrival and departure).
  • 6 or more units: 9 business days (plus arrival and departure).
Why do I have to stay for so long?

When it comes to restorative work, the lab requires a predetermined amount of days in need to complete the work.  However, you should know that you will not be all these days in the clinic, so you will also have sufficient time to travel and enjoy our beautiful country.

What Type of anesthesia do you use?

We use local anesthetics, such as Novacaine.

Can I be out (I.V. Sedation) during the procedure?

Yes. We offer the option of full sedation during your procedure. Please make sure to let us know during your initial phone consultation since the anesthesiologist comes on demand.

Do you give me something for pain?
